A creative group of undergraduates at MNIT Jaipur, learning and applying manufacturing technology to solve real-world problems.
CAM Society is a creative group of undergraduates at Malaviya National Institute of Technology Jaipur who are together to learn, improve, and apply their software, manufacturing, and technical skills to help solve the problems of society through frugal solutions by technology — i.e., utilizing their engineering skills and getting a chance to work on real-time problems.
It comprises students mainly of mechanical engineering under the guidance of Dr. Harlal Singh Mali. CAM Society members have been organizing many workshops and competitions for junior students for enhancing their software skills and connecting them to a problem-solving attitude since its foundation.
Members have participated in various national and international events related to product modeling, innovation, fabrication, etc., and have won many prizes. Based out of the Advanced Manufacturing & Mechatronics Lab of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the basic aim of this society is to integrate skills of CAD/CAM/CAE of the students with that of advanced manufacturing and automation.
The society has informal collaboration with industrial giants, i.e., Autodesk® India and others. Consistent teamwork coupled with perseverance, proper guidance, and stimulating challenges have motivated students for significant achievements during the course of their study.
Apart from CAD/CAM/CAE tools, the students learn and master advanced technologies like CNC lathe, CNC milling, EDM, FDM, AFM, etc. The group also focuses on frugal, sustainable, and low-cost product development in the field of biomedical, automobile, household, construction, and agriculture with the help of automation and manufacturing tools.
